Orion Area Parade Group

Our Lighted Christmas Parade tradition returns on Saturday, December 18 at 6 pm in Downtown Lake Orion!

In light of the tragic events in our sister community of Oxford on November 30, the Orion Area Parade Group has postponed the Holly Jolly Folly and Orion Lighted Christmas Parade. We cannot celebrate the season while our community is hurting. The Holly Jolly Folly will be held Friday, December 17th and the Parade will take place on Saturday, December 18th. Please join us in extending our deepest sympathies and prayers to our grieving Oxford friends and neighbors.

Our holiday tradition returns to Orion with a Christmas in Toyland theme!

Lake Orion is the home of the largest lighted Christmas Parade in Michigan! The event—organized by the volunteers of the Orion Area Parade Group (OAPG)— happens the first Saturday each December.

With our fun theme of "Christmas in Toyland", we encourage participants and downtown businesses to light up the night and celebrate the season using toys to depict the holiday spirit. Register your group to participate online by December 15. Subscribe to our email newsletter or follow our Facebook page for updates.

The parade will go on as planned but we will be mindful of any COVID restrictions that are in place at the time of the event. The committee will continue to monitor the situation as plans develop.

No Orion Lighted Christmas Parade would be complete without the appearance of Santa and Mrs. Claus to usher in the holiday season. Expect to see the red couple in full force again this year!

The Orion Lighted Christmas Parade has been a Lake Orion tradition for over 25 years and has the distinction of being one of the largest lighted Christmas parades in Michigan. The OAPG is staffed by volunteers and counts on the support of the community to bring this event to town each year.
